Daryl Lloyd '03
President
Daryl Lloyd currently serves as the President of the St. Joseph's Prep African American Alumni Association, where he is passionately committed to supporting students of color, through mentorship, advocacy, and community engagement. In this role, Mr. Lloyd leads key initiatives designed to provide these students with the resources, guidance, and connections necessary to thrive academically, athletically and personally. Under his leadership, the Association actively works to build a strong, supportive network of alumni who can offer mentorship and opportunities to current students, helping them navigate the challenges of education and career development.
Professionally, Daryl is the President of Lloyd Construction, a full-service construction and home services repair company. He also serves as the Managing Partner of Lloyd Insurance Agency and Brokerage, where he oversees operations and ensures the delivery of top-tier service to his clients. Beyond his business endeavors, Daryl is actively engaged in his local community, serving on the Edgewater Park, New Jersey School Board, where he plays a vital role in the educational development and governance of the district.
In recognition of his leadership and impact, Daryl was honored with the St. Joseph's Prep Bakari Trailblazer Award in 2023.
Sherman Washington '05
President Emeritus
Sherman L. Washington, Class of 2005, is an accomplished professional and community leader. A graduate of Saint Joseph’s University, Class of 2009, with a B.S. degree, Sherman has made significant contributions in vaccine manufacturing at Merck & Co. He is also the co-founder of Common Ground Management, Inc. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Sherman is the President Emeritus of the African American Alumni Association (A4) at St. Joseph’s Prep.
Sherman is actively involved in various volunteer roles, including serving as Treasurer for the Athletic Club of Fairhill and holding board positions at Saint Genevieve's School, St Joseph's Preparatory School, The Gesu School, and The Trippley Foundation. His dedication to service has earned him numerous awards, such as the Rev. Charles A. Schnorr, S.J. '37 Service Award (2023), the Bakari Trailblazer Award (2022), the KYW Game Changer Award (2022), the Pillar Award for Community and Advocacy (2022), and the City of Philadelphia Service Award (2019).
Alonzo Jones '03
Vice President
"Zo" plays a crucial part in A4's continued mission of building and maintaining a great working relationship with Prep athletics, striving to ensure a great experience for student athletes, as well as helping lead the charge in bridge building with Prep alumni of color currently in college or recently graduated.
Professionally, his decade plus experience in marketing and communications has currently led him to a senior manager position at a city workforce agency where he works daily to help strengthen Philadelphia's workforce.
Luis Morales '08
Treasurer
Luis Morales is a proud alumnus of St Joseph's Preparatory School, Class of 2008, and St Joseph’s University, Class of 2012. He also holds an M.B.A. from LaSalle University, which he obtained in 2021. Currently, Luis serves as a Claims Specialist at Philadelphia Insurance Companies and is actively involved as the Treasurer of the African American Alumni Association (A4).
Luis came back to join A4 because he truly understands the importance mentorship can have on a young man. While grateful for all the time past A4 mentors have spent shaping his life and career, he is always looking for an opportunity to pay it forward and help mentor the next generation of Prep students.
Julian Rodriguez '04
Internal Secretary
Julian Rodriguez is dedicated and goal-oriented computer engineer with over 15 years of experience in the tech industry. He has committed his career to advancing technologies in several different areas while still advocating for Hispanic & Latino representation in the tech space. Although his current focus is within his industry, he hopes to expand this mission to the larger Philadelphia community and beyond.
As a proud alumnus of St Joseph's Preparatory School, Julian '04 continued his academic journey at Boston University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 2008. His pursuit of excellence led him to Cornell University, where he obtained a graduate degree in 2013. Throughout his career, Julian has consistently sought to bridge the gap between technology and community, using his skills to make a meaningful impact.
In addition to his professional achievements, Julian is the Internal Secretary for the African American Alumni Association (A4), where he plays a crucial role in fostering connections among alumni and supporting current students. He is also an active member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), further solidifying his commitment to the advancement of Hispanic and Latino professionals in the engineering field.
Beyond his professional and advocacy work, Julian is a devoted father to a current Saint Joseph's Preparatory School student, continuing the legacy of excellence and education within his family.
Aaron Horton '01
External Secretary
Aaron, Class of 2001, is dedicated to helping shape the future of the Prep. Actively involved in the African American Alumni Association mentoring program as a Prep student, he has fulfilled his promise to return as a mentor and is honored to serve on the A4 executive committee. A proud Temple Owl, he has built a nearly 20-year career in digital communications within the nonprofit and higher education sectors.
Biendhy Tity '10
Executive Committee Lead
Biendhy is a marketing and communications professional, focusing on content strategy and delivery, both organic and paid marketing efforts, and communications for external audiences. In his career, Biendhy has been involved in many projects, with his latest being a campaign that showcased the technologists aiding in the 2024 Summer Olympics, in his role at Comcast.
He is deeply committed to embracing his Haitian heritage, contributing to the Philadelphia community, and assisting young Prep men of color in achieving their full potential.
Xavier Gallon-Blackman '09
Executive Committee Lead
After graduating from The Prep in 2009, Xavier matriculated to St. John’s University where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Government and Politics in 2013. Two years later, Xavier earned his M.S. in Adolescent Education from St. John’s.
This September, Xavier will be starting their tenth year as a high school history teacher and it’s always his hope that students leave his classroom historically informed and engaged with issues that impact contemporary society.
Desmond Shannon '06
Executive Committee Lead
Desmond is a member of the Prep’s graduating class of 2006. He works full time as a commercial insurance underwriter, analyzing and evaluating risks and constructing insurance programs accordingly. He works part time at The Prep as a math instructor for The Saturday Test Prep Program. In his down time, he enjoys watching movies and spending time with his friends and family.
